During National Hospital Week May 19 16 officials at St Edwards Hospital compare 1954 and 1964 figures. Costs per patient rose from 18.35 to 36.83 daily due to wages equipment and services. Admissions fell from 1587 in 1954 to 1388 in 1964 and births dropped from 357 to 203. The hospital is non profit with gains reinvested in care and facilities.
The astronomer F W Bessel became the first to measure the distance to a star in 1835 using parallax. This milestone established a practical method for determining cosmic distances and marked a turning point in celestial measurements.

Edward Samuel Miller Sr. of Rogers died in a Cameron hospital at 9 45 am Saturday May funeral services were held May 2 at Gommert Funeral Home chapel. Burial at Hope Lutheran Cemetery. He was born Oct 28 1885 in Washington County and was a retired farmer. Survivors include wife Ida son E S Miller Jr three daughters and many grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.
