Milam Jail Fugitives Captured. Two Still Free

Three of five inmates escaped Milam County Jail Sunday. Wallace and Barfield were captured near Cameron by Vaughn Jenness and a helper and returned to jail. Williams, held in Houston, was later arrested on car theft charges. two others remain at large.

Milam County Jail records another escape

Five inmates tunneled through a brick wall from a second floor cell around 9 15 p m Sunday. They lowered themselves on blankets and escaped through a small opening in a steel door handle found at the scene. A statewide alert followed and an auto theft suspect list grew as investigators joined from Bryan and Cameron.

Bloodmobile seeks donors in Cameron on Tuesday

Central Texas Regional Bloodmobile plans a Tuesday visit to Cameron on May 18 from 12 noon to 6 pm at the Methodist Fellowship Hall. Dr. C G Swift leads volunteer doctors for the afternoon. The drive aims to collect over 71 pints to meet the quota, with age and weight requirements and consent rules noted.

LBJ Boyhood Home Dedication Service Planned in Johnson City

Miss Mary Belle Batte of Rockdale chairs Milam County Historical Survey Committee and is invited as a guest of Blanco County for the dedication of an Official Texas Historical Marker marking Lyndon B. Milam County starts Brown and Smith Oil Company wildcat in Rice Schoolhouse area on Henry Pattillo lease.
