Late April showers lifted drought concerns as the San Gabriel River rose to flood level near Georgetown while the Belton Dam held steady above the Little River confluence. Milam received 4 to 8 inches in three weeks, grass and crops prospered, cattle prices stayed steady, and spring grain and cotton planting neared completion. The pattern shows April and September bring major rainfall, a holdover from 1966–67 drought cycles.
