Three men were named to the CISD Equalization Board at a Cameron School Board meeting. Sam Brewer Otto Patzke and William Watkins were appointed to serve on the school Equalization Board per Supt. D R Dodson. Yeemen elected football captains for the fall semester season per Head Coach Ken Fuqua. Captains for the fall 1967 season will be Wayne Kirk Glenn Fogle James Dohnalik and Jim Lafferty.

Milam County sees the only active oil work as H. L. Hunt interests of Dallas assemble a large lease block in south Milam near Burleson and Lee counties. W. H. Hunt Margaret Hunt Trust Estate and Lamar Hunt hold leases covering multiple leagues and surveys across Burleson and nearby county lines. The Hunt leases lie several miles west of Shell Oil Company’s block where three Smackover wildcat wells have been drilled in three years.

Yee High School sends two juniors Chandler and Kirk to the Texas state finals in Austin May 5 and 6 with high hopes of titles. Chandler won the regional mile and Kirk claimed the discus regional title with 146-24.

Youth Charged In Connection With Break In
Gary Maddox about 17 of Cameron faces burglary charges in an amended complaint for the April 15 Yee High School break in. A language lab console was damaged and offices vandalized while ink spilled and a footprint was left. Maddox is free on 1090 bond. Sheriff Black awaits polygraph results not admissible in court.

City council members reviewed applications for the Cameron police chief at a called Friday evening meeting and interviewed applicants for the position in a separate Wednesday night session. Applications were also being received for an additional patrolman and a dispatcher for the department.

Milam County Historical Association Elects Officers
The Milam County Historical Association formed at Cameron Public Library and elected Miss Mary Belle Batte as chairwoman Tom Underwood Rockdale as vice chairman Mrs Bob Bruder Gause as secretary treasurer and Ada Margaret Smith as reporter. The group aims to share Texas Milam history and may place a log cabin at Cameron City Park and mark the Old Nashville fort. Historic items shown included books Bibles guns and Spears. Cameron Man In US 190 Accident Injuring 2 Drivers
A three vehicle crash on US 190 near Temple injures two pedestrians one in critical condition. The drivers involved are James Mason Chapman 53 of Temple Paulino Veracruz 28 of Rogers and William Foster Miller of Cameron. Chapman remains critical while Veracruz is listed satisfactory. The incident is under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrolman Milton Wright.
