Jack Cammer 59 died Tuesday after months of illness. A Cameron resident and Cammer Tailor Shop owner, services are Thursday at 4 p.m. at Green's Funeral Home Cameron with Rev. James E. Lafferty officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include wife Connie, daughters Sharon Adams and Lisa Cammer, sisters Cora Balhorn, Mary Redfield, Ruth Steed, brother John Cammer. pallbearers and honorary pallbearers named.
Light hail and about a half inch of rain fell mid afternoon Wednesday, cooling temperatures to 53 by 3 p.m. Litte River ran out of banks in parts of Milam County with more rain expected. Past week readings show highs and lows from April 27 to May 1, ending with a 1.07 inch rainfall on May 1.
Wayne Kirk and Paul Chandler, first in the Brenham regional track meet, head to Austin for state titles. Coach Ken Fuqua notes Kirk will throw discus around 2 p.m. Friday and Chandler enters the one mile around 3 p.m. Saturday.
A Cameron City Council committee will oversee the remodeling of the Cameron Airpark reception building and office. Mayor Wilson and officials plan an official dedication with high state officials. The city also seeks applicants for police chief, patrolman, and dispatcher as modernization proceeds.
South Milam new wildcat drilling update reports Navarro No. 1 Joe Martin for 3,600 feet on a 50 acre S. Vincent Surrey lease six miles south of Milano and near the Lee County line. It spudded last week and was at 1,926 feet on Monday with J. W. Hancock of San Antonio as contractor.
Ben Milam students present a program of music at the Cameron PTA meeting Thursday night at 7 30 in the Ben Milam cafetorium. New officers will be installed at the final meeting of the school year. Refreshments will be served and baby sitting provided. The attendance award room will celebrate with special refreshments on Friday.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Cameron at the Methodist Fellowship Hall Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. for a 71 pint quota covering Cameron and North Milam County. Donations cost 30 to 60 dollars per unit when not supplied by the Red Cross Blood Center in Waco, which offers free blood with processing charges. Donors should allot about 30 minutes for health questions and a snack, with about 10 minutes for the actual donation.
Yoe High honors Stephen Smith vale dictorian and Donald Manley sal utatorian. Smith holds a 96.35 average and is Student Council president and NHS vice president. Manley has 96.12 and is NHS president and Interact Club president, Yeomen captain, with Quarterback Award. Baccalaureate is Sunday May 28 and graduation Tuesday May 30.
A May Fellowship Day service is set for 3 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Church. Sponsored by United Church Women, Miss Mildred Thornton directs the program titled People, Poverty, Plenty.
About 5090 attended Cameron Country Club Rockdale Day with men and women golf rounds from CCC and Rockdale Country Club. George Foster shot 73 to win the men’s medalist honor. John Davis and Sam Peebles received perseverance trophies. A Bill Joerg quartet provided music. a barbecue dinner and dance followed awards.
Milam County will host the first Wide-Game for about 300 Girl Scouts from Georgetown Round Rock Florence Taylor Rockdale Elgin Cameron. The 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. event at Coffield Ranch Friendship features 10 stations around a lake with activities linking to future career aims. Leaders include Mrs James Kahler Mrs Ed Magre and District 4 Chairman Mrs Lester Williams guiding practice and arrangements.

The Lions Club announces its annual Light Bulb Sale to benefit the local Lions scholarship fund. Club members will pre-sell during the week with a one day sale on May 8 and offer 4-60 watt and 4-100 watt bundles for $2. Monroe Fuchs chairs the event and calls can be placed to OX 7-2111 for orders.
A special Buckholts school trustee runoff is scheduled for Saturday May 6 with polls from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Candidates Stanley Glaser and Elbert Svetlik each earned 67 votes in the April 1 election. Wilburn Beckhusen and Henry Vaculin won earlier with 82 and 78 votes respectively. Edward Senkel will serve as election judge.
A small apartment ad placed by Mrs Kathryn Robbins OX 7-2965 drew three calls by Saturday and rented to a Houston caller. The ad cost about the same as the call, with the Cameron Herald distributing across Texas.
Hercules Inc of Wilmington Delaware placed the four color Hi Fi advertisement in The Cameron Herald marking the paper’s first full color pre print ad. The concept allows magazine quality color reproduction in newspapers, though the Herald has not yet installed full color facilities. The ad appears on Page 1A.
John W. Sapp, 74, of Cameron and former NASA employee, died after a heart attack. He owned a Plymouth dealership in Cameron, served in World War I, retired from NASA in 1964, and returned to Cameron. Funeral was 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marek Burns Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Helen and two sisters. Pallbearers named.
Mrs Perry Holder will review a book on Leonardo da Vinci life Images of the Universe by McLanathan at the final Friends of the Library meeting Tuesday May 9 at 8 p.m. Highlights of the past year will be reviewed by Mrs John Henderson and Mrs Carroll Green will preview next year’s program.
