Firemen Split Over Site for Municipal Building

City Council discussed a $55,000 bond election to place a municipal building at the current fire station site. Aldermen Andres and Kunz voted for the election. Harden opposed, citing Planning Board recommendations favoring a West-facing site between 7th and 5th streets on North Fannin and a memorial for the Volunteer Fire Department. The Planning Board plans include space for city offices, health unit, chamber offices, meeting rooms, and living quarters for residents and firefighters.
