Mrs. Boyd Offield hosted the Tracy-Duncan Home Demonstration club at their Tracy home on Wednesday afternoon. Berenice Charles led the program on annuals for cut flowers. County council recommendations were read and approved. Refreshments were served to nine members and one guest. The next meeting will be at Mrs George Young Sr on February 17.

Health officials report clinics held Thursdays in Cameron and on first and third Tuesdays in Rockdale, and on second and fourth Tuesdays in Thorndale. January cases include 214 streptococcal, 148 influenza, 11 pneumonia, 13 chickenpox, 22 measles, 2 whooping cough, 2 gonorrhea, 1 syphilis. Polio immunizations show minor gains with 7 first shots, 25 second shots, 31 third shots. Local sanitation measures progress across garbage collection, water supplies, and sewage facilities with strong city-county-health cooperation.

Last Soldier Of Mexican War Buried On Texas Grounds
Elija Goodnight, reputed as the last Mexican War veteran, is buried at Concord Cemetery near Waco. A member of a pioneer Texas family, he fought in the Mexican War, later served as a Confederate forager, and was a freighter and farmer. The Goodnight line came from Germany to Pennsylvania before moving to Milam County.

Services Held For Mrs. Emma Guggolz
Funeral services for 77 year old Mrs. Emma Guggolz were held Friday at 1 30 p m in Green Funeral Home chapel. She died in Bryan after a long illness. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Born in Reisel on August 8 1882 she was active in First Methodist Church teaching children in Sunday school. Surviving are husband J F Guggolz of Cameron daughter Mrs W C Barmore of Bryan brother W L Meier of Austin sister Mrs J W Renfro of Baton Rouge and three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Herbert A. Schroeder Colorado County school superintendent spoke to the Brenham Lions Club on February 2 about vocational guidance. He is son of George L. and Mrs. Schroeder of Sharp and son-in law of Mitcham of Cameron. He is a noted school leader and has addressed Lions Rotary Kiwanis and Chambers of Commerce. He is a member of the Columbus Lions Club and holds a BS and MS from Texas A&M College.

Former Cameron resident K H Beacham presents a one man exhibition at Laguna Gloria Art Gallery in Austin from February 7 to March 7 featuring portraits of famous figures photographed over fourteen years. Beacham, known internationally as Hans Beacham, has worked across Mexico and the United States, with plans for books on Mexican painters and Texas creators. He trained in Cameron, worked for Ryan Aircraft and Technicolor, and later built a career in editorial photography and children's books.

Raymond Perry of Cameron serves with Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Four aboard the support aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in the Western Pacific with the U S Seventh Fleet. The squadron arrived in the Far East in January to take part in antisubmarine warfare operations.
