Get In The Scrap November 1942 Ship Production Decline
In November 1942 cargo ships and other sea crafts were completed but by January 1943 only 106 ships of similar construction were finished. Thirteen plants idle and sharp drops in iron dealers. Court condemns 12 acres for Little River bridge right of way
Commissioners proceed with condemnation of land for a bridge crossing over Little River. Owners asked 660 dollars per acre for about 12 acres. court will set an arbitrary value. If paid, right of way plus river access would cost about 7200 dollars, delaying bridge pier construction.
