Taylor county teachers join the fourth annual Georgia Education Association convention in Atlanta for a three day program on rural and urban education. Delegates assemble at City Auditorium, with a banquet at Rich's Tea Room, featuring Dr. A A Stockdale on The Future of America and remarks by Governor Rivers and Dr. Graham. Mrs. Ida Steed Injures Right Hip In Fall At Home

Mrs Ida Steed fractured her right hip after falling on her front steps Monday. She is hospitalized at Montgomery hospital in guarded condition at nearly 88 years old and had been in good health before the accident. Her friends wish her a swift recovery and return home.

Economy Program For Go Explained By Gov Rivers

Governor E D Rivers urged Georgians on radio to accept taxes over deep cuts in essential services. He warned that even with efforts to trim overhead, about 12 million dollars would still be needed to reopen schools, sustain health work, pensions for the aged, and care for the mentally ill. He cautioned that without funds, many counties would lose public schools and health workers could be pulled from duty.

Taylor County music students from Butler and Reynolds high schools, under Mrs. Z W Edwards and Mrs. J A Pender, won multiple honors at the Georgia Federation of Music Clubs convention in Atlanta.
