Americus to gain large aviation plant and 500 jobs
Sumter County commissioners announced sale of the wartime Cutherfield field to a national advisory firm. The 160 acre site near Americus will house a major aviation manufacturing plant with 12 hangars and a $1,000,000 Nitehouse building. Workmen will repair hangars and begin employing about 500 people soon.

Poultry Car Returns April First in Taylor County
The regular monthly poultry car resumes on April first, visiting Reynolds in the morning and Butler in the afternoon. The prior runs carried about 11,000 pounds, with 5,600 pounds the first month and 5,800 the second. Hens markets show higher prices as trade continues.

Second Hog Sale Nets Big Price in Taylor County
The second co oper ative hog sale in Taylor County was held last Thursday March 18 at Butler. The sale moved 178 head weighing 80 485 pounds with prices per hundred ranging from 5 60 to 8 50. A possible rebate may be prorated if 75 percent of the hogs are killed.
