States Assign Quotas to Cut Cotton Crop Across South
Washington June 26 Tentative quotas for southern states set a basis for a drive to get growers to plow up parts of their cotton crop. Administrators say quotas are not binding and reflect a potential 30 to 80 percent reduction in 1931 acreage, with overall target to remove up to 10 million acres if enough growers agree to signing. G N Peek notes the 11,732,700 acre quota for 16 cotton states may shrink with feasibility. Virginia appears among states listed with small acreage and reduction figures.
