Local residents note weekend visits from families in Columbus, Atlanta, Thomaston, Macon and Savannah. Several family groups travel for 4 H Rock Eagle Camp and Vacation Bible School activities at Lebanon Baptist Church, with extended family plans to England.
Miss Gloria Olivia Pike and David Thos Harbuck Jr announce their July 19 wedding at the Baptist church in Mauk. Miss Pike graduates include Butler High School and the University of Georgia with a Pharmacy degree. Harbuck is a Butler High School graduate, Army veteran, now employed at Robins Air Force Base.
Betty McCorkle, soon to wed H Edwin Allen Jr., was feted with a tea shower June 13 hosted by Mrs. E B Shehee. Guests included Mrs. Don Barnes and Mrs. Julian Cooper with gifts displayed by Barbara McCorkle and others. Decorative gladioli and daisies set a festive mood.
The two circles of Circle Baptist WMS met in joint session Monday afternoon at the church. Lottie Moon Circle reported 14 members and four visitors with a $16.29 offering while Hattie Rawls Circle had 13 members and $12.45 offered.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Friday at 3 30 p m at the local Legion Home with Mrs Ben son as hostess Mrs Robert Butler will lead the program All members urged to attend Also notes of local travel show Otaher Troldahl and others leaving for Minnesota after a two week visit at Edward Williamson and relatives On the Savannah trip Diane and Susan Rowe with Mrs G T Rowe and Mr John Cason joined Betty Jo Hammack and others for a weekend visit.
The 1937 Butler High School graduates held their 20th reunion at the Local Community House. Forty of forty-two members are living and active in business clubs and civic affairs across communities. A noon basket dinner preceded a class meeting led by Dr. Alva M Bazemore Linden New Jersey Valedictorian. The roll call listed numerous attendees with their spouses and families, representing Butler Macon Columbus Zebulon and other nearby towns.
The two WSCS circles met in a joint session with Mrs. L R Adams in charge. Officers elected include Circle 1 Chairman Mrs H E Allen and Treasurer Mrs R C Montgomery, and Circle 2 Chairman Mrs W E Hightower with Secretary Mrs J B Locke. A social hour followed with punch and cookies.
