Thomaston Georgia will host the opening of a new $50,000 livestock sales barn run by the Georgia Farm Products Sales Corporation two miles east of Thomaston on the Yatesville Thomaston highway. Auction sales begin Monday June 28 at 1 pm with anticipated barbecue and speeches.

Mrs Victoria Moore 84 Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Victoria Moore aged 84 died at her home near Butler on Saturday June 5 after a long illness. Survivors include five sons and four daughters with 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 6 at the family residence with burial at Wainwright cemetery. G H Goddard & Son Funeral Home of Reynolds in charge. Revival services at the local Baptist church continue this week with Rev. James A. Ivey assisting and Choir Leader J W Ivey Jr. directing twice daily services at 11 am and 8:30 pm through Sunday.

James Cecil Jones, 16, of Route 2 Juniper, drowned Thursday afternoon after apparently falling from a rowboat on Tidd's Lake near Juniper. M H Tidd and wife found the boatless youth and recovered the body after a three hour revival attempt by seven people. An Oaklawn chapel palmoter from Columbus was rushed to the scene. Jones could not swim and was found about eight feet from the lake dam.

In Macon on June 18 Earl Mercer 19 and Billy Mercer 23 pleaded guilty to taking part in the March 18 First National Bank night deposit box burglary. Judge Hoyt Davis sentenced them to 51 months each. Wives facing burglary charges were dropped for lack of evidence. A fifth suspect is already serving five years. About $35 000 was involved with all but $4 700 recovered.

The body of Convict Guard William Jarrell was found under a dirt pile near the Greene county prison camp in Greensboro Georgia. Sheriff L L Wyatt broadcast a statewide alert for Negro convict L C Brown who worked with Jarrell on a road project. Brown, a former Marietta Forsyth resident, is believed to have fled in a dump truck. Greene county offered a $200 reward for his recapture.
