Butler School Names Faculty For 1927 Term
In a July 6 meeting the Butler school board elected teachers for 1927. Miss Elizabeth Brogdon, Mrs J W Edwards, and Miss Miriam Smith top the list with several others named for grades. The district aims to keep accredited status and improve to a No 1 high school. The board notes all teachers hold diplomas or equivalents and highlights diverse experience from several colleges. The Reynolds Exchange Club also elected officers, with Dr H J Clark as president and H K Sealy as treasurer, pledging continued support and renewed enthusiasm.

Class Holds Reunion At Butler High School 1925 Group
The Butler High School class of 1925 held its first reunion Tuesday night at Miona Springs with Miss Atholine Childs as chaperon. After swimming and supper, members shared how they spent their first year out of high school. Attendees included Thelman Jarrell, Terrell Bazemore, Polk Jarrell, W. S. Payne, Clyde McCants, and several Misses. Two members were absent. A separate Butler gathering at Potterville Friday drew nearly the entire town for a Thursday afternoon social sponsored by Mesdames Gray and Trussell, despite some rain.

Grading Work on Highway 96 Near Reynolds Nears End
Grading of Highway 96 for 4.08 miles north of Reynolds to the Flint River bridge is nearly finished. Tay lor county convict labor carried out the work under state highway surveyor R. L. Sutton. Paving of the graded gap is expected to be let soon, adding a short unpaved stretch between Reynolds and Macon.

Local Peach Crop At Peak As Pebble Plant Shifts Volume
Marketing of more than thirty cars of Hiley Bells last week from the Pebble Packing Plant signals the season’s peak for local peaches. The plant three and a half miles east of Butler on Reynolds highway is owned by Mrs. C H Neisler and Messrs J W Butler and J Campbell Jones, with orchards ready for bearing next year. The two story facility was enlarged and modernized this year and employs over one hundred workers, boosting Butler and Reynolds economies. Elberta shipments from the Neisler, Butler, and Jones orchards are expected to start next week and continue about two weeks, with prices satisfactory so far and likely to rise as Elberta arrives.

Evangelistic Club Work in Taylor County Deepens Faith
At the Taylor County Evangelistic Club meeting on June 20, Mrs. W. P. Folds and Rev. E. A. Martin outlined weekly Cottage prayer meetings Bible study and mid week prayer services. A bush arbor meeting in Glover inspired members and a Butler delegation attended the State Rally in Homerville May 29 boosting county wide soul winning efforts. Mrs. O. B. Bankston was named director for Taylor County with plans for an upcoming state rally in Butler July 30-31. The Evangelistic Herald edited by Folks Huxford keeps members engaged with articles by S. F. Andrews and Huxford. The group anticipates a strong statewide gathering and more plans will be announced.

The Rural Electrification Administration has preliminarily considered Taylor County Electric Membership Corporation for a new loan to extend rural lines into Crawford Houston Peach Chattahoochee and Talbot counties. Extensions would add 181 miles serving 1114 new customers with a 2 dollar minimum bill and 25 kWh or 5.25 for 100 kWh.

Judge J L Rustin a Taylor county farmer near Mauk completed his forty eighth consecutive year of patronage in Taylor county public schools. He has fifteen children, eight family members taught in local schools, and his eldest son began schooling here forty eight years ago. His son W T Rustin served thirteen years as teacher and eighteen as County School Superintendent. All rustin offspring hold responsible positions.

Butler Men Attend State Legion Meet at Waycross
Three Butler men W M Mathews A E Guinn and Randall Waller attended the annual American Legion state convention opening in Waycross Monday. The session ran through Wednesday drawing a large crowd with notable speakers. Stanley Jones Macon announced plans to resign as state service officer but will remain state adjutant. Arthur Cheatham Macon was proposed as his successor. State Department Commander J P Kelley Valdosta opened the convention.

A large number of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Windham’s descendants gathered at their home on Father’s Day for a surprise family reunion. Mary Josephine Bazemore wife of Charlie Bazemore longtime Butler resident died unexpected after breakfast found prostrate in yard by family early this morning. Unification Benefits Outlined by Rev Outler
Rev J M Outler presiding elder of the Columbus district discussed Methodist unification in an interview. He explained the plan preserves colored churches under colored pastors and keeps property in southern hands.
