Mrs. Elizabeth Pike Dies at 92 Near Mauk

Mrs. Elizabeth Pike born May 29 1863 lifelong county resident dies at Mauk age 92 after five years of paralysis causes listed as old age. Funeral Saturday 4 p.m. at Pine Level church cemetery near Mauk with Rev. Herschell Whitley officiating. Edwards Funeral Home of Butler in charge. Mrs. Juanita Benns announces the opening of a new modern beauty shop at her residence in the city for next Monday. An open house will run from 2 to 8 p m on opening day inviting all ladies to attend the shop featuring up to date equipment. Official notice appears on page eight of this issue.

Heroes of the Cross Theme Bible School June 20 24

The Methodist church hosts a Bible School June 20 to 24 with the theme Heroes of the Cross. Registration starts 3 p m Saturday June 18 and daily classes run 9 to 11 a m. Children and youth of all denominations are invited to worship study handcrafts and recreation.

Butler citizens welcome Rev H C Marx as the new pastor replacing Rev Hoke Hatcher who moves to Mt Vernon. Marx, a South Georgia Conference veteran since 1937, visited Tuesday and brings families and prior posts from Warwick to Centenary Circuit with headquarters at Dublin.

Superior Court To Convene Here Tuesday July 5

Hon. T Hicks Fort announces the regular July term of the Taylor County Superior Court will convene Tuesday July 5. Judge Fort will preside with Hon. Russell Daviston Jr. as Solicitor General and Hon. R. O. Perkins as Court Reporter from Columbus. A grand and traverse jury pool has been drawn for the July term.

Death of A B Shehee Ends Long Rural Life in Taylor County

Aylesbery B. Shehee born March 19 1872 and long time farmer died Friday at his home in southern Taylor County after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife and many children grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at Bethlehem Primitive Church with Elder James M. Land presiding. Funeral arrangements were by Edwards Funeral Home.

Captain Fuller to be Stationed in Japan for Three Years

Capt Grady B Fuller and his wife Mrs Fuller with two children visited Tuesday morning. The captain, son of H G Fuller of Crowell Texas, will return to the Far East to resume duties under Air Force Headquarters in Tokyo. He will be stationed in Japan for the next three years. Mrs Fuller and the children will stay in Coldwater Kansas for a year before joining him.
