Wade's Service Held Sunday for Mercer Wade

Mercer A Wade son of the late rev wid Mrs J T Wade of Talbot and Taylor counties died Friday from a golf ball injury while at the municipal course. He was reared in Reynolds and attended the University of Georgia and later worked with Gulf States Creosoting Co. Relatives from here attended the funeral including Mrs Louis R Dean Ed Wilson Mrs J E Mathis and Miss Gussie Wilson. Final rites were held at the Baldwin chapel with Rev W A Hewitt officiating and interment in Lakewood cemetery. Wade had been in Jackson the past year as a special inspector at the Gulf States Creosoting plant.

Swearingen Named Owner of Taylor County Motor Co

The Reynolds Chevrolet agency passes to R L Swearingen as sole purchaser and owner from the Neisler estate. Swearingen, a Reynolds leader and bank director, also heads the One Hundred Car Club and serves as a Methodist church leader. Executors say the Taylor County Motor Co name and goodwill are included and expect continued operation.

Butler High School Commencement Shines In Splendor

Commencement week at Butler High culminated with a sermon by Rev H L Byrd and a graduation ceremony featuring 14 diplomas. Salutatory by Miriam Dreizin and valedictory by Virginia Perkins highlighted a program with Col DeLacy Allen as literary speaker and notable faculty, followed by a Junior Music Club vaudeville night.

Sale of Bank's Assets Directed

An order by Judge Bascom S. Deaver in the United States district court at Macon directs J. B. Downs, receiver, to sell the remaining assets of the defunct bank. He also authorizes transferring all items left with the bank to Citizens State Bank of Reynolds for safekeeping. Remaining assets will be sold to Thurman Whatley of Reynolds for $980. liquidation has continued for about two years.

Death of Dr H T Gaines Prominent Butler Druggist

Obituary note for Dr H T Gaines former Butler druggist who died Monday at the home of his daughter Mrs B Campbell Middlebrooks in Macon. He lived in Stilmore Ga in recent years and was a longtime Sunday school superintendent. Survived by daughter and several step children, a sister and a brother. Funeral and burial held in Stilmore.
