A mythic chronicle follows Acrisius feud with Proetus, a prophecy of doom, and Danae’s confinement. Danae bears a son, the infant hero too precious to spare, as Acrisius casts them to sea in a chest. The tale begins with storms and Halcyon and Ceyx lore.
Funeral services are held Saturday morning at 10 for Seymore Stringfield and infant grandchild of T W Hawkins. Stringfield, 75, a native of the county and long-time Adams Park resident, died after a long illness. Survived by three generations, four daughters, two half-siblings, and other relatives. Revs Griffin and Adams officiated at the double ceremony.
The Butler Reynolds spelling contest at Butler school ended with Reynolds winning two to four. Winners for Reynolds were B Marshall W L Carter and W M Hollis and Mrs Grady Fuller. Butler contestants were Col W B Steedland and Dr H J Porter. Proceeds fund school books for children in need.
After months of ill health, Mrs Mamie Sistrunk Powell wife of Reynolds pioneer merchant Mr W I Powell died at her Reynolds home. Born September 22 1869 in Taylor County she lived with her uncle in Butler after losing both parents. Survived by husband sons Frank Harry Virgil William. daughters Martha Helen Mary Ann. stepchildren V Powell E B Powell and Mrs Boyd. Funeral was held at Reynolds Methodist Church with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
In Atlanta three people died from poison according to hospital and police records. Mrs. Alvan Rogers, 24, died Monday after accidentally taking poison thought to be medicine. W H Caldwell, ? died Tuesday after reportedly drinking wood alcohol. Annie Harris, 25, died Tuesday after telling police she drank poison while riding in a taxi.

The Taylor County Hog Committee and County Farm Bureau sponsored the season’s first hog sale at Reynolds. Twelve farmers participated, checks ranged from 28.00 to 815.80 totaling 2,400.00, with 111 No 1 hogs at 10c and 918 pounds of No 2 hogs at 9c. The sale, praised for high bids and corn fed hogs, aims for more sales in two to three weeks.
A congenial party of young people including Miss Margaret Butt Miss Carolyn Hill Jettie McGuffin and Messrs Hamilton England Cecil Renfroe suffered injuries when their five passenger Ford overturned Sunday afternoon three miles south of Butler on the Butler Ellaville highway. England broke a right arm but all others escaped with minor bruises. The Macon youth owned the car and the party had been riding about the city earlier.
Perry Georgia February 18 night marshal G B White was found dead in his automobile on the outskirts of town. He had been shot in the head and a pistol lay at his side. A coroner's jury ruled death as self inflicted. A note to his mother and daughter mentioned a bank lock box key and goodbye.

A burglar flees Geneva station but is pursued by police. George West of IcKY Mount NC breaks leg after a fall. J K Simmons suspends publication duties of the Bufala Daily Citizen to focus on the Cuthbert Leader. A Georgia emergency medical flight marks its first airplane use for urgent service between Atlanta and Orlando. A granite Nancy Hart marker will be unveiled February 26 at Wrightsville on the Revolutionary War hero highway. Lamar Boothe of Lumber City drowns after a boat capsizes. search continues after 48 hours.
Three separate rural fires left three families homeless in the county. One residence at Rupert owned by J L Harmon and lived in by F W Cooper and family was engulfed in flames at about three o clock Monday morning. The family escaped in their night clothes before the house collapsed, with household goods largely destroyed despite partial insurance coverage.
Rev. J. J. Jones, longtime Freewill Baptist minister and farmer in Macon County, died Tuesday night after months of ill health including a prior stroke. He leaves sons C J Jones J M Jones Henry Jones and daughter Neva Nell Jones and daughter in law Berta Weeks. Funeral services will be held today at Little Bethel Church conducted by Rev. J. R. Hunt with Edwarde Brothers in charge.
Mr J R Montgomery of Charing suffered a serious burn to his right hand when he plunged it into hot grease while frying fish on a fishing trip with friends in a neighboring county. He receives daily medical care and is improving. Montgomery is a county leader, supervisor on the A B and C railroad, and a yearly trophy winner for railroad service efficiency.
A seven year old Negro boy, son of Bob Minter, was accidentally shot by his older brother while playing at a loaded shot run near Charing. The bird shot passed through the right foot and lodged in the left. amputation of both feet may be needed. Local physicians are treating the wounds with careful attention.
Thomaston Ga Feb 18 Judge Ed R Ingram ordinary of Upson county for several terms and prominent resident died at 8 oclock Tuesday night from bronchial pneumonia He is survived by a wife and several children Funeral services will be held in Thomaston at 10 oclock Thursday morning.
Greenville Georgia reports three bandits captured in Talbotton after a chase through Meriwether Talbot and Upson counties. Sheriff James H Ferguson blocked the road forcing their car into a telephone pole and leading to their surrender. The suspects Benny Yaun 24 Savannah Jack Mansfield 20 cage and Eddie Davis 20 Far Valley were jailed in Greenville with a stolen auto under investigation.
News of the death of Joe Earry Tarrier of Ideal follows a long illness at the government hospital in Oteen North Carolina. He was in his early sixties, son of J C Tarrier, survived by parents three brothers and two sisters and was a member of the Methodist church Masonic lodge and Reynolds Post 1181 American Legion.
