Mrs Nettie Peebles Chapman died shortly after dawn Monday after a long illness. A 67 year old native of Schley she lived in Butler over 40 years and served as a Missionary Baptist leader. She was generous to missions and her church and is survived by her husband and two siblings.
The spelling contest between Reynolds and Butler High Schools will be at 7 PM Friday in the Taylor County courthouse with Webster's Blue Back spelling book. It runs in blocks of 30 minutes with 20 to 30 minutes recess, admission 10 cents for adults and free for under 15, proceeds to playground funds.

Friends and relatives mourn the death of Robert I Walker at 61, after a ruptured ulcer operation in Columbus. He fell asleep after surgery Tuesday night and died a few hours later. Born May 17, 1868, in the county, he lived in Butler with his family for better schooling. He was a devout church member and respected farmer, survived by his wife and children H C Walker H B Walker Murray Walker Eli Peterman and Mrs Henry Peacock. Funeral services will be held at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Morgan Williams officiating. Edwards Bros funeral directors assisted.

Ill health forces Mrs. J H Newton to resign from Butler High School Latin and French teaching for the year. Miss Fay Sanner of Atlanta arrives to succeed her. Sanner is an A B graduate of Sophie Newcomb College with years of Latin and French teaching experience and strong recommendations.
The many friends of Mrs. J. Allen Payne will be interested to know she is doing nicely after a successful appendicitis operation Friday last at a Columbus hospital.
