Directors Flint REA Re-elected At Annual Meeting
About 1,100 Flint Electric Membership Corporation members held their annual meeting at Reynolds High School. Floyd H. Tabor presided as Walter Harrison urged REA growth and facing current problems. Ten directors were reelected, including Mo ore, Whatley, McDaniel, Coogle, Murph, Tabor, Gray, Dickey, Vinson, and Pratt. A barbecue followed at Reynolds Truck and Tractor Co. with office staff assisting. The REA spans 13 counties with 4,000 members and a Reynolds home office.

Griffin to Run Again for Lieutenant Governor

Taylor County Farmers Plant Pine Seedlings
Taylor County farmers received 571 500 slash pine seedlings this planting season. The shipment marks the largest on record and reflects countywide interest in reforestation of idle eroded land. Walter Wainwright planted 110 000 slash pine seedlings in the county. Cooperation with the Middle Western Ocmulgee River Soil Conservation District supported the effort.

Funeral Services for Mrs Mattie Cogburn at Mt Pisgah
Funeral services for Mrs Mattie Locke Cogburn were held at Mt Pisgah Baptist church Tuesday at 3 p m with Rev J H Stanford officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Born November 8 1868 she was the widow of J W Cogburn and had been a Mt Pisgah member for sixty years. She died after a two week illness. Pallbearers were H C Walker Harris Joseph Harmon Harold Locke Harmon Kirksy and Frank Bone. She is survived by four sisters J T Cox J T Flournoy H F Taylor and R C Miller.

Seventeen candidates qualify for county primary race
At six this Tuesday afternoon the closing time for candidate qualification passed. Seventeen men secured spots with the County Democratic Executive Committee for the February 18 primary. They vie for eight county offices including Ordinary, Sheriff, Clerk Superior Court, Tax Commissioner, County School Superintendent, County Commissioners, Coroner, and Surveyor.

Farmers District Meeting Set for Cordele on Feb 20

Religious Motion Pictures to be Shown at Local Churches
A 16 mile sound religious film Beyond Our Own will be shown at Howard Methodist church Monday at 7 p m and Wesley church at 8 15 p m same night. Tuesday at 7 30 p m Butler church screens the film. The Protestant Film Commission produced the picture with a message on pursuing success at the cost of the soul. Local pastor H C Ogles praises the film and notes many conversions in Franklin Kentucky after screenings.
