Style Show to Feature Merchants and Bands on Main Street

Merchants plan a Friday night event with 7 to 9 o'clock store hours and a 9 pm style show on a platform at Main and 25th. Over 40 models will display male and female apparel, with Bryan Community band providing a pre-show concert and an orchestra for the street dance afterward. The event also includes Fire Prevention campaign updates and committee discussions, with directors listed among attendees.

Pastors of City Resume Monthly Sessions Monday

The Bryan pastors association met at First Presbyterian to resume activity after summer inactivity. Officers remained Elrod and Blackwelder. Roy Holloman left. no successor chosen. They planned chapel scheduling and a new Sunday 7 30 pm service in October. Breazeale is a new member. Members present included Bledsoe Watts, Watts, Gordon Watts, Andrew, and Wilson.

Senate Confirms 19 Appointments By Gov Ferguson

The Texas senate confirmed 19 of 30 recess nominations by Governor Miriam A. Ferguson. Confirmed were John Wood Timpson as highway commission chair and Ghent Sanderford Eastland for education, T C Andrews McKinney as pardon board chair, George Simpson Corpus Christi as state auditor, Frank Scofield Hillsboro as racing commission chair, Earl Arnold Greenville as prison board, A H Graves Clarksville as industrial accident board, and C G Krueger Bellville on the courts of appeals. Eleven nominations remained unreported, including Westbrook Waco for rehab and relief costs hearing, Brand Sweetwater banking, Vance Beaumont reclamation engineer, and Meyer Rockdale board of control.

Houston Voters Confirm Pillot to Game Fish and Oyster Board

Camille Pillot of Houston is confirmed as a member of the game fish and oyster commission, while Mrs. Hal C. Peck of Amarillo awaits action. Wood remains chairman of the highway commission, having served since June after Senate refusals. He previously worked as a secretary in Governor Ferguson's office.

Bedias Pastor to Study and Preach in Fort Worth

Rev. and Mrs. Philip Brown of Bedias Grimes county visited Bryan on Monday. The pastor has been granted permission to engage in special work at Southwestern Seminary Fort Worth while continuing as Bedias church leader. They will live at Fort Worth Hall Seminary Hill and drive to Bedias each weekend for Sunday services.
