Conditional Pardon Granted to Willie Robinson

Willie Robinson of Brazos county received a conditional pardon from Gov. Miriam A. Ferguson. He was convicted in Brazos county district court about a year ago for violation of prohibition laws and sentenced to two years in state prison.

Prospect Women Organize Pantry Demonstration Club

The Prospect Women's Home Demonstration Club met at pantry demonstrator Mrs. Steele McDonald's home to organize her pantry. They labeled cans, arranged jars on shelves, and discussed costs and garden yields. Since January 1, 627 containers were canned in 71 varieties, with 261 left after rearrangement due to poor gardens. fall gardens are being tended. Plans for Achievement Day and July August reports were discussed, and Dallas Fair exhibits were handed to Mrs. J. E. Wilson to select an assistant. Attendees included Mrs. P. K. Trant, Mrs. J. E. Wilson, Mrs. D. J. McDonald, Ozelle McDonald, Blanche Brown, Mrs. L. Stewart, and Steele McDonald.

Tony Barcelona was rushed to Wilkerson Memorial Clinic with appendicitis and is doing well after surgery. Various Bryan area residents and visitors, including the Tomlinsons, Binneys, Crawfords, and Miss Sanders, visited, vacationed, or returned from trips to Galveston Houston and the coast area. Rev. J E Garcia improves after illness while plans to return home continue. The roster notes trips to Houston San Antonio Chicago and Detroit for visits and business, with several families returning home after weekends in Bryan.

Leafworm Poisoning Not Worth It After September 10

Dr. F L Thomas of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station reports that poisoning cotton to kill leafworms is unprofitable after September 10 in areas where frosts arrive by November. Leaf loss late in the season does not kill cotton, and open bolls may still form though immature bolls rot if frost arrives.
