Tabor Welfare Club’s Sixth Annual Community Fair Awards

The sixth annual fair drew several hundred attendees and showcased farm and home exhibits with plans to improve further. About 125 dollars net profit funded a new fence for the school grounds. Bishop Byrne Confirms Mexican Children in Texas Churches

Right Reverend C. E. Byrne bishop of the Galveston diocese confirmed 82 Mexican children at St. Mary’s Church Hearne with Rev. J. B. Gleissner pastor. On Saturday 100 Mexican children were confirmed at St. Joseph’s Bryan. Sunday 200 Mexicans were confirmed at St. Patrick’s Navasota.

Escape of Convicts Won’t Halt Honor Farm Program

Austin Oct 8 The escape of three convicts from Texas first honor farm in Fort Bend County will not end the experiment Governor Pat M Neff said Tuesday He noted the incident surprised him and that the state will not abandon the honor farm plan If recaptured the three men will be moved to another farm and kept under armed guard.

Stanford Declared Nominee After Recount Victory

J A Stanford of Waco was declared the Democratic nominee for Associate Justice of the Tenth Court of Civil Appeals after a recount increased his lead over Judge Spivey from 272 to 311 votes. Judge James P. Alexander ruled the contest unfounded in the Nineteenth district court in Waco on Tuesday afternoon.
