Col William Green Sterett a longtime Dallas Morning News editor and former State Fish Game and Oyster Commissioner died of a heart attack at his home in Highland Park Dallas. He came to Texas from Kentucky in 1872 and worked at the Evening Times before joining the Dallas Morning News in 1885. The funeral was held at his residence with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Hung jury leads to new trial in Greer liquor case

In district court a hung jury in the Greers case for manufacture of intoxicating liquor prompted a new February trial date set by Judge W C Davis after about 24 hours of deliberation. The Turner murder case involving Harry Lysinger and the convict killing on College Road was postponed to February. No other cases were heard.

Roy Hudspeth Wounded in Hunting Accident near Lake Medina

County Tax Collector Roy Hudspeth was shot while bird hunting near Lake Medina. He and H M Woodall of San Antonio were on the trip. Hudspeth loaded a 12 gauge automatic shotgun which discharged multiple times, costing him a severed left finger and other injuries. He is resting easily at Baylor Hospital in San Antonio and is not considered fatally hurt.

Joe Howard and Herbert Tucker of the Haswell Book Store received a picture post card addressed to them from Capt Miller formerly of the Allen Military Academy.
