Thanksgiving Then and Now at Methodist Young People League

Special program titled Thanksgiving Then and Now was presented by the Young People’s League of the First Methodist Church. Mrs. BE Bryant directed a costume playlet dramatizing the first Thanksgiving with family members in frame scenes and solo and duet performances by local singers.

Immunization Campaigns Continue in Brazos County

County health officers and nurses pressed on with immunization drives through the past week in Brazos County. Death of Mrs. Ord Gibbs Norsworthy in San Antonio

Mrs. Ord Gibbs Norsworthy, 60, wife of Dr. O L Norsworthy, noted Texas specialist, died after a long illness in her Wet Road home near San Antonio. A Huntsville-born resident, she had lived in San Antonio four years and will have funeral services in Huntsville. She is survived by her husband and a brother P Gibbs of Huntsville.

Desperate Eastham Farm Convicts Escape Toward Dallas

Six convicts from Eastham prison farm overpowered two guards at noon, disarmed the squad, bound guards and seven others to trees, and fled in a high powered car. They swapped clothes with guards, seized a shotgun from hunters, then crossed the Trinity River piloted by a clergyman’s wife to reach Clapps Ferry toward Dallas.

Plan for Underpass on Highway 21 at North Zulch

Austin November 28. The Texas highway commission announced eight county projects approved by the district engineer of the federal public bureau of roads. Bids on projects totaling about 1 200 000 dollars were to be received early December. One project is an underpass and adjacent roadway at North Zulch on highway 21 in Madison County.

Emmett Lenz, son of Mr and Mrs Hugo Lenz, exhibits about 40 stuffed specimens in the window of E E Yeager Hardware Company. The collection includes owls hawks doves quail rabbits squirrels and other birds and animals in a forest scene. He has had no formal training, only a single correspondence course.
