Accidental Crossing Collision Injures Elderly Man

Joe Rogers, an elderly Black man from Freedmantown Bryan, was struck at the crossing behind Haswell's Book Store by an H. and T. C. engine around noon. He was aided home by Sheriff Jess Conlee and others, receiving stitches to his head and chin and reporting possible internal injuries.

Miss deSteigur Honored At Philemon Club Party

The Philemon Club hosted a Saturday reception at the Tucker home for Miss deSteigneur before her Christmas wedding to C. L. Craig of Panhandle in San Marcos. Guests, live entertainment, and orchid and gold decor marked the farewell celebration with a slumber party afterward.

Rev Meyers Pastor Takes Houston Heights Lutheran Post

Rev Meyers, his wife, and two children leave Kurten to move to Houston where he accepts the pastorate of Houston Heights Lutheran Church. He has served as student pastor at A and M College for the Lutheran church and pastored Kurten Lutheran church. He came to Texas five years ago from Missouri.

Kurten Club Boy Wins Santa Fe Trip to Chicago Livestock Show

Cliff Lopez of the Kurten boys and girls club has won a Santa Fe trip to the International Livestock Congress in Chicago this December. He produced 1,720 pounds of seed cotton on one acre by building a Cedar Creek dam for irrigation. This marks Brazos County's third straight Chicago trip, with past winners Jim Kurten and Britten Henderson. Lopez, 16, Mexican, lives near Bryan with his parents Raphael and (illegible) Lopez. prize funds include a $120 check to cover travel and expenses.

Tabor to Dedicate New Auditorium Friday Night

If weather allows, Tabor school house and community center will dedicate a new auditorium next Friday night. The Allen band will provide music and a casual program with a box supper after the formal portion. A local quartet is planned to participate as Bryan and Brazos County residents are invited to attend.

Roads Over the County Getting In Shape Lately

County roads are improving after heavy rains under Supervisor W. A. Boyett. E. J. Bradley reported the Pitts Bridge approach collapsed on the Brazos County side and drag work is active on cross county state highways. Traffic shifts to the old route via Benchley as the Hearne Bryan road shoulders wash away.

The table lists daily high and low temperatures for Monday through Saturday starting November 9 recorded by the Division of Entomology at A and M College. The week averages show highs around 67 and lows near 46 with rainfall of 0.44 inch on November 11.

Diner Party Honors Bryan Couple Before Wedding

A Bryan pre wedding event for Miss Anne Lila Wickes and Clif ford Mitchell featured Ward Mooring hosting at the Rice Hotel. The table centerpiece was pink Killarney roses with guests Miss Lois Bethea Miss Mary Edna Wilkins Edwin Crenshaw and Mr and Mrs Sam Parker of Bryan. Dancing followed the meal.

Cotton Bales Ginned in Brazos County 1925 Report

Just eleven short of 7,000 bales ginned in Brazos county for the 1925 crop prior to November 1. The census bureau tabulation shows 6,989 bales, counting half bales, versus 17,994 bales for the same date in 1924. Director W N Steuart notes the Department of Commerce census data.

Minkert Found Guilty In Assault Case In Justice Court

J G Minkert was found guilty of assault on Breen Todd before Judge J W Hamilton. He was fined $5 and costs and plans to appeal the case to the district court.

Mrs W S Lackey Seriously Ill At Caldwell Home

County Agent C L Benson received a phone message from Caldwell reporting the serious illness of his aunt Mrs W S Lackey. She has been ill for some time and her condition was described as critical. Benson sought a trained nurse to care for Mrs Lackey during her illness.

James Hill, a black man, is to have a preliminary hearing before Judge J. W. Hamilton in Justice Court Wednesday on charges of stealing a watch from James Otis Chance. Hill was arrested Saturday evening by Sheriff Jess Conless and is in the county jail.

The Woman's Missionary Society of the First Methodist Church held afternoon group meetings at members' homes. Smithville High to Visit Bryan for Bi District Championship

Smithville High travels to Bryan on Friday for a bi district championship game at Allen Field. The event, arranged by Business Manager Forrest Jones, could be Bryan High's last home game this year and hinges on strong local support to cover a large guarantee. Smithville, coached by Dodson with guard Captain Adams as star, has a 170 pound line and a 210 pound guard, and has defeated several teams, making this a pivotal Texas Interscholastic League showdown for Bryan’s hopes to reach state finals.

Bridge repairs dominate Bryan chamber session discussions

F L Henderson urged joint county and state action on Pitts and Jones Bridges over the Brazos to restore transit between Brazos and Burleson counties. A committee was named to meet with Caldwell officials and Texas highway representatives to push repairs. Budget talks and by law revisions also moved forward as the group planned for 1926 actions.

Texas leads in grain sorghum yields over Oklahoma and Kansas

Special to the Eagle from College Station Texas shows 1924 USDA figures placing Texas at 25 bushels per acre for grain sorghum vs Oklahoma 22.1 and Kansas 21.4. Over the 1918–24 period Texas averaged 25.1, leading Kansas and Oklahoma by about 6.7 and 6.9 bushels respectively.

Cotton bale totals in Bryan warehouses exceed seven thousand

Readable figures show in Bryan up to last Saturday the Farmers Union Warehouse held 3 290 bales Parkers Warehouse 2 020 Eden's Warehouse 3 322 totaling 7 024 bales in the equivalent of square bales confirming a sizable stock across three warehouses sustained by area farmers and merchants.
