Brazos County clubs push diversification for prosperity

The Brazos County Boys and Girls Club notes plans to diversify crops and livestock to improve profitability. Dr. Soule of Georgia Agricultural College to speak at the Atlanta Farm Bureau meeting on the Southern agriculture crisis. County agents report interest in potato curing, poultry, and better seed stock, while warning about blackleg and the need to burn carcasses. Club members visit Dallas fair and local schools to share observations and promote the county poultry show and prize opportunities.

Golden Wedding Celebration Planned at Steep Hollow

A Steep Hollow church committee led by T. P. Hall finalized plans for a golden wedding anniversary celebration for Rev. J. M. Bullock and Mrs. Bullock and Mr. and Mrs. John Vandiver to be held at the Steep Hollow church on Sunday, November 20. The committee includes T. B. Martin, C. M. Resinger, Will Holligan, Victor Andrews, Ben Foster, I. M. Cook, Jim Tobias, I. J. Holligan, P. A. Hensarling, J. J. Parker, J. Darnell, J. H. McCulloch and J. E. Bullock.

Steep Hollow Hosts Double Golden Wedding Reunion

The Steep Hollow community plans a joint celebration for Rev. J. M. Bullock and his wife and for John Vandiver and his wife, who both marked their golden anniversaries in 1871. Attendees are urged to bring baskets and songbooks for a choir performance from Harvest Bells.

Brazos County Tax Collection Slow in 1921

Brazos County Tax Collector Roy Hudspeth reports 1921 state taxes 62 966.52 and county taxes 71 090.77 plus state poll taxes 4 010 totaling 134 067.27. Amount collected since October 1 is 2 652.14 with 118 poll taxes paid and half by women.

Brazos County Bond Bid Heard By Commissioners Court

Brazos County commissioners court met to review the sale of $100,000 bridge bonds from a November 5 special election. County Judge H O Ferguson presided with Commissioners Ho land Edge Moore and Degelia present. Several offers were tentatively received, one near par, with sale to occur soon to begin bridge work.

Poll Tax Collected in Brazos County Reports

Collector Hudspeth reports 105 poll taxes collected since October 1 in Brazos County. About 40 payments have been made by women. He notes that tax payments for 1921 have not been heavy so far.

Sells Floto Big Top Promises Largest Show Yet at Bryan

The Sells Floto circus announces a three ring stage spectacular for Bryan on Wednesday November 23 featuring Poodles Hanneford the Hanneford family Codonas Nelsons and a cast of noted aerial acts led by Alfredo Codona. The event includes a parade and two daily performances at 2 and 8 pm with a new second stage and extra acts promised. Ava Haswell returns from Dallas after attending Idlewild society event.
