Kurten voters reject county bond proposals in light turnout

In Brazos County special election, voters bolted three bond projects totaling up to 66 000 dollars with federal aid possible. Results show a strong oppose stance, especially against courthouse repairs and machinery sheds, while Kurten precinct showed relatively higher support.

Light vote cast at College Station precinct

College Station residents cast a light vote on Saturday with only 28 ballots recorded by taxpayers. The poor farm project failed 12 to 15, road machinery sheds 8 to 20, and courthouse repair 6 to 20. Steeles Store precinct report remained outstanding.

Many Unemployed Daily Seek Work in Bryan

Legion Auxiliary Names Committees At Friday Meeting

American Legion Auxiliary held its regular meeting at the Legion Home with sixteen members and one visitor. New committees were appointed including Executive, Child Welfare, Rehabilitation, Americanization, Legislation, Sick and Flowers, Memorial, Publicity, Cradle Roll, Entertainment, Building and Grounds, and Community Service. Final arrangements were made for a turkey dinner for Rural School Teachers and Trustees on Friday November 10 at 7:30 p.m., and aid was approved for the Red Cross Membership Drive.

Houston Veteran Moodie Dies Civil War Survivor

Funeral services were held for Samuel Oliver Moodie 90 at Foyle West chapel with burial at Rosewood Park cemetery under the Dick Dowling camp UCV. Moodie, a Hood's Brigade survivor, enlisted 1861 and served under General Lee in Virginia. He later engineered for the Brazilian emperor and wrote about the Big Bend region before serving as Franklin County judge. Survived by two daughters and two sons.

Retailers Code Clarified by Brazos County Officials

Funeral Service for Mrs Hollomon Taylor

Funeral services for Mrs Hollomon Taylor were held Sunday at the First Baptist church with burial in Taylor cemetery. She died Thursday in her 68th year and is survived by her husband two sons Rev Roy S Hollomon of El Paso and Zeb W Hollomon of San Antonio two sisters five brothers five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Reverend Roy Hollomon and his wife attended after learning of the death while en route to Oklahoma City.
