Edward J. Boriskie 62 7 12 died Monday at his Haswell Drive home after a long illness. Funeral 9:45 at family residence and 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic church with Rt. Rev. J. B. Gleissner officiating. Interment Bryan Catholic cemetery. Survived by six sons two daughters three brothers four sisters. Pallbearers were his six sons.

Leroy Barnett, son of R. S. Barnett of Eaton near Wheelock, was brought to Bryan by his father and neighbor M. B. Abbott after a dog bit him while he tried to keep the animal from a recently killed chicken. The dog is not believed to have rabies.

After ten days in San Antonio he proceeds to Galveston to work at John Sealy Hospital and its outpatient department, attending surgical clinics. He aims to return to Bryan in about three weeks.

Taylor Is Taken To State Prison Five Year Sentence
John Taylor of Normangee was found guilty of murder in Brazos county district court for the Sept. 8 fatal shooting of Henry M. Macy merchant. He received a five year term and was taken to Huntsville state prison by Sheriff J. H. Reed and Constable Horace Reed after Judge W. C. Davis overruled a motion for new trial. Taylor and his lawyers decided against appealing.

A car struck a mule on the highway between Brenham and Old Washington Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Mitchell and friends escaped serious injury though the automobile was badly damaged. The mule reportedly stepped onto the road directly in the car’s path.

Armistice Day Parade Opens Red Cross Drive Monday
A large Armistice Day parade planned by Rt. Rev. J. B. Gleissner and Commander Hiram Downard will kick off the Red Cross Drive Monday in Bryan. The 10 am parade will last about an hour, then noise makers will flood streets to echo 1918 celebrations followed by a local address on Red Cross work.

Funeral Service For Mrs. Lawrence Held on Friday
Mrs. Josie Allen Lawrence died after a lengthy illness at King's Daughters hospital Temple and at her Bryan home. She was 76 years old. A Bryan resident for over 50 years and Methodist church member, she is survived by two sons Dr. W. H. Lawrence of Bryan and J. T. Lawrence of Waxahachie, a daughter Mrs. Kate Lawrence Williams of Bryan, a sister Mrs. Annie Carter of Longwood, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church with Dr. L. B. Elrod conducting. Interment followed in Bryan City Cemetery. Active pallbearers named.
