East Texas D C Plans Subsistence Farms Conference

Subsitence farm homesteads for East Texas to be financed partly by federal funds will be discussed at a Woodlake Trinity county conference on November 7. Membership Drive Mapped by Little Theater at Meet

The Bryan Little Theater discussed plans to recruit members at a Monday meeting held at president Milton Maloney's home with John Q. Hays advising. Free-for-all shooting leads to charges against two men

Reuben Smith and his son Henderson face assault with intent to murder charges after a Friday night shooting in the Smetana neighborhood that injured Lee Barnett at Hammond hospital. Sister Smith was also hurt. Reuben Smith posted bail while Henderson remains jailed.

Third Prizes Awarded Kurten Woman in Dallas

Mrs. Lawrence Komar of Kurten received a third prize of one dollar for her plum jelly at the State Fair in Dallas. County home demonstration agent Miss Blanche Brown presented the award. She will buy stainless steel knives with the prize money.

Fifty new members joined the Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce in two hours on Friday. Six sub committees of two members each conducted the solicitation. Secretary J E Stanford said officials were pleased with the response and the cooperation of workers businesses and solicited individuals.

Funeral Service For Tabor Woman On Saturday Morn

Funeral services for Effie Lorena Lindsey were held Saturday at 11 in Alexandria. She died Friday night at 10:25 after a lingering illness. Rev. C. B. Thompson oversaw services. Culloch-Dansby had charge of arrangements. Interment was in Alexandria Cemetery. Lindsey, wife of J. P. Lindsey, was born January 28 1866 in Be dias Grimes County. She was 66 years 8 months 29 days old and had lived in Brazos county for 80 years. Survived by husband Walter of Bryan and two daughters Mrs. George Wilson and Miss Anne, both of Tabor.

City to Move Power Line to End Harmonics Conflict

The Southwest Bell Telephone Company and the city of Bryan resolved a dispute over harmonics from a local generator that interfered with long distance service. Two solutions were considered including grounding the generation or moving the city line near the Southern Pacific right of way. The move is expected to cost about $1,200 and was authorized by City Manager R. G. Williams.

Community Chest Drive At College Opens November 13 15

The annual College Community Chest drive will run November 13 to 15 to raise funds for campus charities. Budget cuts for 1933 34 eliminated four commerce chambers and trimmed all other groups while some worthy programs were denied funding. An intensive employee campaign aims to reduce individual quotas and boost contributions from staff.

Proration Order Sets Texas Oil Output Cap

The railroad commission issued a proration order setting Texas field oil output to about 875000 barrels per day, effective Monday. East Texas allowed 5.75 percent, down from 7 percent. statewide hearing slated for November 9 in Austin.
