County Agent T. L. Benson reports on Brazos and Grimes county crops and poultry efforts. Hegari grain sorghum praised for drought resistance and yield potential, with Darso also valued. Poultry programs led by D. H. Reid and J. Webb Howell expand egg supplies for clubs, boosting local farming. Guidance on watermelon disease management and plant lice control offered. Shirock Club Met Saturday For 4-H Meeting

The Shirock boys and girls gathered at 8 30 on Saturday May 22. County Agent Benson spoke and asked R W Persons and W J Boriskie to judge projects. Adolph Watthaber won ten baby chicks for best project. Members sang songs and enjoyed a violin solo by Benson and another by Charles McIntosh. The group accepted Steele's Store invitation for June 4 and set the next meeting for June 26 with many members listed as present.

Walden School Of Business Opens In Bryan

Walden's Bryan Business School opened on Monday in four rooms over Wallace Printing Company. About 20 pupils are enrolled in day and night courses, with many more planning to join after local commencements. Mr. Walden expects enrollment to double in weeks and aims to make the school one of Bryan’s largest business institutions.

Brazos County A M Club Sets Campus Barbecue Visit

President F E Lichte chaired a noon meeting of the Brazos County A M Club in College Station. About 26 exes attended as H H Willis of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics spoke. Lichte announced a Wednesday campus event for 150 to 200 Shriners and wives arriving by train from Waco en route to Philadelphia. Colonel Ike Ashburn expanded on the plans.

Club Plans 60th Commencement Reunion Event

The club discussed arrangements for the 60th Commencement exercises and a reunion style entertainment for the first graduating class on campus. A barbecue supper for exes visiting during Commencement was proposed, approved, and committees were formed for barbecue quarters finance reception and overall coordination.

Mrs Haltom Returns From W B A State Meet

Mrs T H Haltom attended the state Woman's Benefit Association convention in Houston as a Bryan delegate. She reports over 2000 delegates from Texas W B A organizations, a successful gathering, and an inspiring message for the Bryan W B A to raise its level. The Houston event featured a pageant by more than 200 participants, recounting the organization's history since 1892. Haltom will present a full report at the Bryan Review W B A meeting.

Judge W C Davis Heads to Richmond for Graduation Address

District Judge W C Davis left this afternoon by southbound train for Richmond Texas where he will deliver the graduation address to the Senior Class at Richmond High School. Brazos County Singing Convention Holds 41st Session at Tabor

The Brazos County Singing Convention held its forty first annual meeting at Tabor High School in Brazos County on May 23 with 1000 to 1500 attendees. Officers elected included Jesse E. Hensarling president and E A Peters vice president. The day featured music by the Vaughn Quartette of Iola, a noon dinner under oak shade, and a vote to meet next in October at Steep Hollow. The convention traces back to 1884 and began as the Unity Musical Convention serving Brazos Grimes and Madison counties.

Teague seeks chamber of commerce amid cotton marketing plan

Local party spokesman praised Bryan for its lively work and paving while aiming to copy Bryan's cotton marketing scheme in Teague. They met with Lawrence Warehouse head Jno. M. Lawrence and plan to have the program in place by fall to raise farmer returns by about ten to fifteen dollars per bale. Letters were sent to other towns before choosing Bryan.

Eberstadt Returns from Carthage Chamber Mission

Secretary Sam Eberstadt of the Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce returned from Carthage where he spoke to 60 business leaders on the benefits of a chamber. He addressed women in a 4 PM mass meeting and led an 8:30 PM public talk urging joining and dues. A committee will assess and seek members, aiming for 150 to 200 by week’s end. Margie Neal praised the effort and the services rendered.

Secretary Eberstadt praised Carthage for its courtesy and honor during a regional tour. He declined numerous banquet invitations while in the city and noted Beckville sought a chamber of commerce and a meeting with him but could not be accommodated.
