Train Collision Injures Eleven Near Acorn Arkansas

Eleven persons are injured in a head on collision of Kansas City Southern passenger trains No 1 and No 2 near Acorn Arkansas six miles north of Mena. Both engines and baggage and express cars were demolished. Train No 2 was stationary when Train No 1 struck it. Train No 1 had a sidetrack order and was moving about 25 miles per hour.

Bryan Community Fishing Club Idea Proposed

The column urges Bryan residents of moderate means to pool funds and lease land along the Navasota River to create a low cost fishing club. A simple clubhouse with cots boats and kitchen facilities could serve as a recreational retreat for nonmembers of other clubs and nearby Bryan sportsmen.

Young Man Drowned At Hubbard Lake Near Hubbard

Raymond Reeves aged 19 son of Mr and Mrs T Y Reeves Hubbard grocery man was drowned in a lake on Jim Jones farm about a mile from Hubbard at 1 oclock today. He was believed to have cramps and could not stay above water until help arrived. The body was recovered in about two hours. Reeves recently figured in a severe automobile accident.

Brenham Plans Washington Park Celebration June 3

Brenham hosts a June 3 fete at Old Washington on the Brazos to dedicate a replica of the building where the Texas Declaration was signed. Dr J J Marek chairs the Washington Park Commission. former Senator Joseph Weldon Bailey will speak. The event will be an old fashioned basket picnic and invites residents from Brazos Grimes Washington counties to attend.

Aggies Finish Clear Second in SWC Baseball Race

A. and M. College finished second to Texas in the Southwest Conference race after a 9 to 1 win over Texas. Coach C. J. Rothgeb announced the final standings noting a prior tie with TCU over the win. The Aggies played 12 games, with 9 victories and 3 losses.

Geo B Terrell to Speak in Bryan At 2 30 Saturday

Hon Geo B Terrell commissioner of agriculture and candidate for reelection will speak at the court house in Bryan on Saturday May 29 at 2 30 in the afternoon. He is known for interest in agricultural and educational problems and served fourteen years in the Legislature. His father S H Terrell was Brazos county treasurer fifty years ago and he hopes to meet older citizens who knew him.

Marvin Lancaster, 21, collapsed after being struck behind the right ear by a baseball in Brownwood. He died thirty minutes later. He is survived by his wife.
