City visitors and shoppers noted in Bryan

Numerous residents and guests were seen in Bryan today including John Hensarling from Wellborn Pink Mims and Miss Ruth Hensarling from Wellborn visiting Steep Hollow residents J G Allen from Steep Hollow and L S Ettle from Beeville joined by Mrs Chas Gorzycki of College shopping Rev B A Anderson of Calvert and Prof and Mrs B K Coghlan of College called at The Eagle office. Joe Berry and Grover Donaho of Madison County conducted business by auto. A T Meddle of Columbus Ohio arrived and fell ill treated at Bryan hospital and is improving.

Dr Mae McAdams departed for Houston for eye exams after weeks of trouble. R G Ellison and his family, a section foreman on the I and G N road, left for Navasota to reside there. Wellborn Community Notes Highlight Local Travel and Work

J C Royder traveled to Bryan on business and Henry and Paol returned to Mart after a week with G C Royder. J L Hensarling visited Bryan. The Methodist Church held an ice cream supper for the church. Farmers are busy with crops and some are replanting cotton after heavy rain on May 1. The Brazos bottom crops are late due to rain two weeks earlier. Earnest Gandy praised good roads and sub contracted to build the road from Koppe bridge to Wellborn. Two more camps are sought to build roads to Rock Prairie and to the precinct line south of Wellborn. Barbara Burkhalter and Annie Maude Royder visit Rock Prairie.

Commercial Club Directors Meet and Plan Year

The Commercial Club board met at 10 am with President E J Fountain presiding. Directors named standing committees, set annual meeting for May 22, and approved a $20 gold prize for the annual oratorical contest at College. H & T C Railway announces day train schedule changes effective May 21, with northbound service beyond Dallas discontinued.

San Antonio Banker Visi tor Visits A. & M. College

G. W. Brackenridge, a retired banker and capitalist from San Antonio, arrived in the city this morning. He comes in support of A. & M. College and will stay over tomorrow. He is described as a friend of the state’s educational institutions.

Prof J L Cobb Nominated for Precinct No 2 Commissioner

The Eagle announces Prof. J. L. Cobb of Cottonwood as Democratic candidate for county commissioner in Precinct No. 2. Cobb is a long time county resident, former teacher, farmer and road worker. He stresses economy and faithful service if elected.

Vitopil Weinzetter Nuptials at Catholic Church

At 10 o'clock this morning at the Catholic Church Frank J. Vitopil and Pauline Weinzetter united in marriage with Father J. B. Gleissner officiating. Miss Weinzetter is the daughter of Frank Weinzetter near College Station and a popular young lady. Vitopil is employed by J. Groginski and well regarded in the city. They will reside on West Caldwell Street as newlyweds.

Texas suffers 2 to 1 loss to A & M in baseball tilt

In Austin on May 16, Texas fell to A and M 2 to 1 in a tight two game series opener. Olson held Texas to two hits as A & M struck in the fifth with two runs. Edmund Sacrificed and Williams delivered a squeeze play for Texas's lone score.

Bryan merchant Judah L Mendlovitz filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition in U S Court on Monday. Scheduled assets total 13790 15 with 7351 85 liabilities including 3680 secured and 2000 exempt. The dry goods store on Main Street has been a Bryan staple for years.

Allen Academy Commencement Set In Bryan May 21 23

The Allen Academy plans commencement Sunday May 21 with Dr W P Terry SMU head of Education preaching at 11 am in the Methodist Church. Graduation exercises follow Tuesday May 23 with class reps program and Dr Mather UT Austin delivering the address. Final exams run Monday to Wednesday next week and the seventeenth year closes at noon May 24.

Fin-Feathers Win Tight Bowling Contest Over Bryan Stars

A large Bryan crowd watched Fin-Feathers edge Bryan Stars by 55 points at the Bryan bowling alley. Winter of the Stars led with a 202 average, with Simpson of the Fin-Feathers close behind at 198. The box score follows.

Prof W Wright of Texas A and M Physics faculty unveils a simple low cost device to determine Youngs Modulus. The model costs about one-eighth of market devices, measures to 0.0004 inch, and enables sophomores to run several tests in a two hour lab.
