Twenty Apache scouts rode with the cavalry at the Ojo-Azules engagement near Namiquipa May 8. They shrieked war whoops and displayed pistol marksmanship by killing a substantial portion of fifty five Mexican victims. It marked the first Apache involvement in the fighting.

In a brisk Kyle Field finish Agricultural and Mechanical defeated Southwestern 2 to 1 to close their home season. Burns stole second in the fourth, Priester and Brailford drove runs, while MetLarty held Southwestern to three hits and scored their lone run in the sixth.
