Chief C E Jenkins Leads Bryan Fire Carnival Effort

Chief C E Jenkins of the Bryan Fire Department helps organize the Firemen's Benefit Carnival. Pythians Plan Fourth of July Doings In Bryan

Bryan Lodge No. 476 Knights of Pythias met in Castle Hall and approved four membership applications and initiated two candidates. An entertainment committee of five will assist lodge officers for a planned Fourth of July celebration and a renewed push for membership growth.

Calvert to gain paved roads north and south

State Highway Department engineers surveyed Calvert area and prepared field notes. Bids will be called to build a hard surface road several miles north and south to connect with Calvert Main Street paving already completed in brick and concrete.

Henry Rohde wed Miss Mary Galbraith in Bonham Texas on Saturday night. The couple were reported traveling and were in Dallas on Monday. News of the marriage reached Bryan this morning.

Morrison Returns From Canal Zone Visits Kin In Bryan

W F Morrison of Balboa Panama the oldest white man in Isthmus service under Col Goethals arrives in Bryan from Austin to visit his sister Mrs L Guy Ament. They have not seen each other in 12 years. He traveled from Houston after a business trip and visits in Austin. Rev J J Kasiski reports a pleasant stay at the New Braunfels Evangelical church state conference.

Meeting of Western Public Service officials in Bryan

Bryan hosts about fifty out of town officials of the Western Public Service Company and Beaumont staff for a two day district meeting. The program includes a noon luncheon at the Episcopal Parish House, a mid afternoon session at the Carnegie Library, and a 5:45 tour of Bryan and A and M College.

Contract Let Soon for New Church Building

Plans were perfected at a board meeting to call bids and let the construction contract soon. Work will begin with the basement by about June first, though heavy rains had delayed start. The committee aims to secure an architect and finances to meet payroll and proceed together toward the project.

Third Annual Horse Show and Gymkhana at A and M College

The Cavalry Unit of the A and M College R O T C hosted a Saturday Horse Show on the Drill Field drawing over 3,000 spectators and yielding a $75 surplus for the A and M Polo Association. Fourth Annual Chemical Contest Honors A. D. Martin

College Station May 11 The Fourth Annual Chemical Contest for freshman chemistry students ended with a dinner at the Mess Hall annex. Twenty six class representatives attended. A. D. Martin of Bryan High School won the prize, a copy of Kent's Engineering Handbook, presented by Dr. C. C. Hedges. The event, started in 1922 by the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, aims to find the best all round freshman chemist from 870 students.
