Judge Davis to Sell Hot Dogs At Carnival

W C Davis will sell hot dogs and hamburgers at the Carnival Grounds next Thursday and Friday May 13 and 14. The Bryan Firemen's Benefit Carnival nears its end with the Queen's Ball at Elks Club Hall and Miss Etta Peters rising with 65 votes. A general committee meeting is set for Saturday at 10 at the Chamber of Commerce to finalize carnival arrangements, with five thousand circulars ready for distribution through City Hall and local offices.

District Court Opens in Brazos County With Grand Jury

District court began in Brazos County this morning with Judge W. C. Davis, County Attorney Oak McKenzie, and Sheriff Jess Conlee present. Horace Dansby named grand jury foreman as jurors were sworn, with a long charge about secrecy and equal protection. Bailiffs named and a second week’s jury listed as no jury for this week.

Annual Farmers Short Course Opens August 2

Texas A M College announces the annual farmers short course from August 2 to 7 with leaders from agriculture and horticulture attending. About 2 000 were registered last year and larger attendance is hoped. Special programs for boys and girls, demonstrations in agriculture and home economics, and the involvement of many state associations are planned. Reduced railway fares and meals at cost will be offered, with visitors housed in student dormitories.

Students of St Josephs Honor Mothers With School Program

On Thursday at 2 30 PM in the St Josephs Parochial School auditorium about eighty students presented a Mother s Day program. Around fifty mothers attended with the Mothers Club present. Performances included songs piano solos readings and recitations followed by punch and cake. The teaching staff listed includes Sisters Michael Saeraphine Rita and Cyrilla.
