Brazos County Democrats Name 22 Delegates to State Convention

The Brazos County Democratic Convention named 22 delegates to the Texas State Convention in Waco on May 27. W S Higgs was elected chairman with F S Henderson as secretary. Committees appointed for delegate selection and resolutions, which urged support for clean government, Prohibition laws, women’s participation, and removal of dishonest officials. The resolution also urged unity to back a presidential nominee aligned with these principles and endorsed Gov. Pat M. Neff and U.S. Senators Morris Sheppard and Earle B. Mayfield with a call to stand as a unit on all questions.

McAdoo Instructions Reported From Texas County Conventions

AP dispatch from Dallas May 6 notes Texas Democratic county conventions instructed delegates to back William G McAdoo. By early afternoon McAdoo had 189 delegates with 26 from two counties uninstructed. Hunt and Upshur counties endorsed Alvin Owsley for vice president. No Underwood instructions reported yet.

Travis County Dems Endorse Neff Delegation Plan

The Travis county Democratic convention unanimously backed Governor Pat M. Neff s move to acquaint voters with his views on an uninstructed delegation to the Democratic national convention and voted to send him as head of the Travis county delegation. It also approved a second delegation instructed on principles but uninstructed on candidates.

Annie Vanderwerth Receives Reading Club Scholarship

Rozner Reunited With Family After Twelve Years apart

H Rozner of Litt and Rozner fruit store at Main and 22nd Streets narrates a true tale of separation from his wife and baby daughter for twelve years. Born in 1890 in Russia, Rozner left about 1912 for the United States, first in New York then Houston. Major L. L. Minnis Returns From Augusta Banker Meeting

Major L. L. McInnis of the First National Bank of Bryan returned home after the National Bankers Association executive committee meeting in Augusta Georgia. The Bon Air Vanderbilt Hotel hosted about 300 people including 150 bankers and families. Plans discussed covered social and banking education programs with a Chicago meeting set for September.
