Crews led by Jess Conlee remove the old surface at the 22nd street corner to make way for a new rock asphalt covering, replacement set to begin next week by Smith Brothers Paving of Dallas. Machinery is being prepared this week to crush rock from Uvalde and mix it with asphalt for hot laying, with traffic opening after one day of curing.
