Asphyxiation Narrowly Escaped By Store Owner
Mike Altimore who runs a grocery and general merchandise store at 21st and Houston streets narrowly escaped a first floor fire that filled the upper floor with smoke while he slept. He jumped to the ground from a window and was severely bruised. The stock was ruined and the store room badly damaged. the fire department did not reach the upper floor and the cause remained undetermined.
