Delphian Club of Bryan Celebrates Second Anniversary Play

The Bryan Delphian chapter marked its two year anniversary with an open meeting featuring a performance of Moliere's The Learned Ladies. Members and guests from Bryan and College areas attended as Mrs. Thomas Lundin directed the play and the room was decorated for a festive birthday theme with monthly motifs and orange ice cream treats.

Chamber of Commerce hears tours and visits in Bryan

The Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce board met at 10 am in the commercial rooms. New members H A Burger Ivan Langford J L Reese and Bryan Used Car Exchange were announced. The Dallas Chamber Good Will tour will visit Bryan April 13 from 11 15 to 11 55. The Bryan Building and Loan Association annual meeting was set for March 26. Notable attendees included Dr W B Bizzell and Mayor Tyler Haswell with wide participation from directors and local leaders.

In Austin on March 17 the House, led by Rep Stevenson of Austwell, proposed a $4 per gallon tax on prescription whisky. The tax aims to raise about $300000 annually for tick eradication and other state programs.

G L Carnes Returns to His Old Bryan Roots

G L Carnes, owner of Neches Printing and Paper Co in Beaumont and former Bryan Eagle journalist, visits Bryan and College Station for weekend training with the 360th Infantry reserve officers. He is accompanied by sister-in-law Mrs Dona Carnes. Carnes is son of J M Carnes of Carnes and Wallace and brother of the late Malcolm Carnes, former Eagle editor. He left Bryan in 1913 for Dallas then Beaumont, later reporting for the Beaumont Enterprise.
