BrazoS County is honored for the work of Dr Archie Stallings a 1928 Texas A&M graduate who first investigated and recognized the foot and mouth disease near Houston. His early diagnosis allegedly saved the state and possibly others millions of dollars. On September 13 he answered a call to the Jacobs improved cattle farm where a herdsman noted a problem with imported stock.
