Benning Couple Plan Month Long Trip to Kansas City Visit

Mr and Mrs Lynn Benning of College plan to leave Saturday in their new Dodge roadster for Kansas City Kansas to visit his mother and other relatives in his old home They will also tour points of interest in other northern and western cities before returning home They expect to be away about one month returning September 1.

Bryan Reports First Open Boll Cotton Picked

Mr. and Mrs. D. Mike visited Brazos Bottom and delivered an open boll of Mebane cotton from the Fr. T. and A. J. Wallin 200 acre farm between the Brazos rivers near Milton Sims plantation. The crop is high quality, shoulder-high, and heavily fruiting with harvest expected in ten to fifteen days.

Palo Pinto County Sends Largest Short Course Delegation

Six cars from Palo Pinto County with farmers, county agents, and 25 club members attend Texas A and M College Short Course. They traveled two days, one farmer walked five miles to catch a ride, staying overnight in Waco before joining 8 to 10 Fort Worth cars in a caravan to Bryan.

Stone City barbecue funds new school building

Bryan College Road widening urged before Highway Commission

A Bryan Chamber special committee reported to the Board of Directors on its briefing to the State Highway Commission. Judge Ferguson led the presentation arguing for widening Bryan College Road by two feet each side with shoulders built up, estimating 30 000 to 40 000 dollars cost to protect a road valued at 200 000 dollars. The commission suggested two thirds state funding with county matching one third, to be supervised by the county engineer, with a decision expected in a few days. Brazos County Day at the Short Course July 31 was also announced and directors urged to attend.

School Benefit Barbecue Nets Big Receipts For Smetana School

The McCulloch Gordon Company orders an immediate delivery of a black and grey limousine funeral car to replace a burned hearse. The new coffin coach resembles a passenger limousine and will match other funeral cortege cars with an elaborately appointed coffin compartment, flower tray, 4 wheel brakes, balloon tires, and disc wheels.
