A & M College Opens Third Day With Contests

The A and M College of Texas welcomes farm families to a busy third day of the Short Course. Winners in the state kitchen improvement contest are announced with cash prizes from five dollars to twenty five dollars. Judges include Mrs. Friley and Mrs. Leidigh. The Texas Beekeepers Association also begins its annual convention with about 40 members attending.

Persian police fought to save American official killed in Tehran

The London Morning Post reports Teheran issued an official statement saying Persian police made a strong effort to rescue Major Imbrie, the American vice-consul killed by a mob in Tehran on July 18. One policeman died and several were injured in the rescue attempt.

Buick and Ford Wreck on College Road Near Bryan

E B LaRoche of the A and M College was driving home Tuesday evening when a long line of cars forced a vehicle to pull out and collide with his Buick and a Ford. The crash caused scratches and bruises but no serious injuries, and both students were treated at the College Hospital.

Nine Year Old Hit by Auto in Ghent Incident

Ghent reports a nine year old boy struck by an automobile. The boy, identified as a local resident, suffered a crushed skull and is in a very serious condition. Police investigate the accident scene.

Car Hits EightYearOld on North Bryan Street

An accident on North Bryan Street near Charles Mohlman’s Shop left Ghent White Jr. critically injured after a car driven by Sam Mizetti struck him as several boys played in the street. The eight year old was taken to Bryan Hospital where an emergency operation was performed and he remained in serious condition.

Reverend H C Willis pastor of the First Methodist Church returned to Hempstead from Houston where he conducted a cooperative revival meeting. Mrs Willis accompanied him as far as Hempstead visiting relatives. Willis reports a splendid meeting despite the hot weather.

All Klux and Ants Battle Men at Lancaster Mass

Clashes erupted as armed groups fought in Lancaster Massachusetts leaving five men seriously injured. Police reported violent encounters between factions linked to Klux and Ants with injuries corporal and substantial. Investigators pursued suspects and secured the scene.

Lions Celebrate Ladies Night in Bryan Hotel Event

The Bryan Lions Club held its annual Ladies Night at Hotel Bryan with about sixty five attendees. The program featured remarks by Lionesses, songs, an Aggie Fighting Song encore, and an address by H. L. Lewis of Nava Soto. A banquet menu included watermelon cocktail and tenderloin of trout among dishes. Attendees listed include Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Searcy, and several local couples.
