Shelby County Club Boys And Girls Caravan Heads North

R. W. Persons has left the Shelby county caravan near Austin and arrived in Bryan with news the 50 vehicle group will reach Bryan late Saturday afternoon on its 1000 mile Texas trip. The party will stay Friday night at Cameron tourist camp and proceed to A and M College for the Short Course week en route via Hearne.

Tabor Picnic Provides Fundraiser at School House Grounds

The Tabor Welfare Club led by President T. J. Abbott and Professor W. G. Colson hosted a picnic at the school house grounds drawing about 1,000 attendees. Attendees enjoyed a ta rbecu ed supper with varied plates and sweets as a soda and ice cream stand sold out. Secretary Eberstadt oversaw the event and auctioned items, raising about $70 from cakes and other offerings.

Welfare Club Picnic Net Total Announced

Total raised on this cake amounted to 52 dollars. Mr. Abbott said approximately 170 dollars was the net return from the picnic supper and with on hand funds paid for the school and teacherage electric plant bill totaling 230 dollars. He stated the bill and advertising costs for the picnic were paid this morning and the Welfare Club thanked the Eagle County Agent Miss Roten and others for assistance and the Bryan community for support and participation.

On Saturday night at the Free Baptist church in Bryan, Rol lite Tallmann and Ora D. Cargill of College were married by Rev. Ollie Smith. The couple will reside in College Station where he is employed.

Hearse Burned on Wheelock Road After Funeral

Tuesday about 2 p m Chas F Hillier found fire under the front seat of the Moul lough Gordon hearse returning to Bryan from Wheelock where a funeral was held The fire spread rapidly and the car was abandoned to the flames The hearse suffered total loss with $850 insurance and another funeral car has been ordered to arrive at the earliest time possible.
