Perfect Record In Club Work by 5 Smetana Women

Five Smetana home demonstration club women attend every meeting this year with one late member. At the July 6 meeting at Mrs. H P Franklin's home, scores show Mrs. Franklin and Miss Olga Regmund at 650, Mrs. Lucy Cahill at 45. Rally day July 18 will name the delegate to the short course. The contest judged attendance punctuality and on time reporting. The club voted to buy a tomato juice device to serve the Smetana community, kept at Mrs. Franklin's home for use by those who call.

Battery Fluid Injures Eyes of Babe in Elgin Yard

Carolyn Wallace a two year old visitor to Elgin suffered eye injuries after playing with an old discarded battery containing fluid. The fluid caused inflammation and the child was to be taken to Austin for specialist treatment as her parents rushed to Elgin.

City crews started pavement work today on South College Avenue at the new highway intersection. They are finishing a triangular section left unpaved by the state highway improvement project.

American Legion Free Fair Dates Set in Brazon County

The Brazon County American Legion Free Fair is planned for October 12 13 and 14 1933 at the American Legion home. County Home Agent Blanche Brown and Mr Benson urge farmers and farm women to start collecting exhibits now to ensure top products. The fair will follow the general format of last year with exhibits prepared in advance.

Fatal Accident Claims Bryan Woman Sister in Fort Worth

Mrs. F. E. White learned Friday of her sister Mrs. W. P. Belcher of Fort Worth dying after an auto crash on Jefferson Street. Her niece Mrs. J. C. Hughes suffered serious injuries. The other driver, Oscar Turner Menefee, 16, of Lipscomb Street, said he could not see the Hughes car until impact.

East Texas Chamber to Advise New Federal Administrator

Hugh Harrison, manager of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce, said the federal administrator announcement would come in a few days. The chamber, which has served as a clearing house for reconstruction loans, will act as an advisory body to the new administrator.

Women of County Rally Planned at Haswell Park

County home demonstration club members will hold a recreational rally at Sue Haswell Park in Haswell Tuesday. Registration starts 3 PM with songs, invocation, and reports followed by a speech by Mildred Horton. Prizes for exhibits announced at 5:15 PM, then a 6:30 PM picnic supper and an evening program led by Maudie Holt. Husbands and interested guests invited.

Bryanites Spend Summer in Michigan Travel Plans

Mrs. B B W Howell and her daughter Miss Jennie June Howell along with maid will drive to Dallas Saturday to stay with Mrs. Howell’s sister the Bringhursts. They will then tour Battle Creek Michigan and later visit the Century of Progress in Chicago before returning to Bryan.
