Dr Meta Glass Leads Sweetbriar College and AAUW

Dr Meta Glass, sister of Senator Carter Glass, built a notable career in education. Navasota Named For Quarterly Meeting of YWA

Navasota was chosen as the meeting site for the next quarterly gathering of the YWA of the Creath Brazos Association. The event, held Friday at the College Station Baptist church, featured Dorothy Covington as president and Mrs EF A Holland in charge. Music by Myrtle Robertson marimba and the College quartet accompanied remarks by Mrs M A Miller of Houston on The Supreme Blessing. Bryan youth completes 6000 mile hitch hike

G. F. Fermier returned Saturday from a 6000 mile trip started May 20. He hitchhiked with one rider for 800 miles and paid only for food and lodging. His travels included New York, Washington DC, back to New York, and to Portland Maine. He visited the Century of Progress for three days, traveling to Chicago from New York via Pittsburgh.

Burglary Charge Against Jewel Lane in Harvel Case

Jewel Lane, serving a five year suspended sentence for forgery, is jailed on a burglary charge for allegedly breaking into Alice Harvels home on the John Dowling farm. She allegedly took a shotgun a rifle bacon flour dishes and other property per the complainant.
