Brazos Federation Names Officers at Quarterly Meeting
Brazos Federation of Church Societies held its regular quarterly meeting at the Christian church despite heavy rain. Mrs. J. N. Goodwin was elected president with Mrs. W. G. Reynolds and Mrs. B. Thompson as officers, and vice presidents from Episcopal and Christian churches were approved. The group endorsed affiliation with mission councils and planned a January 15 briefing by Dr. Eugene W. Potter on a Week Day Bible School in Bryan. The next meeting will be March 30 under Episcopal guild auspices.

Rev J J Tatum Returns From North Texas Tour
Rev J J Tatum arrived in Bryan on the early morning train after an official visit across North Texas. Doris Hopkins aged six, daughter of Mr and Mrs O Hopkins of Reliance, died last night at 8 30 pm from burns suffered while her clothing caught fire during a leaves and trash burning in the dooryard on Saturday. Funeral services were held today at Reliance with Rev J J Tatum officiating and burial in Reliance Cemetery. She is survived by her parents a brother Otis Hopkins Jr and four sisters Mae Thelma Neville and Hester Hopkins all of Reliance.

Clovis Bryant of Hearne Dies in Bryan Hospital
Clovis Bryant, 16, son of Mr and Mrs P C Bryant of Hearne, died Sunday morning at 10 o’clock after a three week illness. He leaves his parents a brother J D Bryant and sister Dollie Bryant of Hearne. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Norwood Cemetery Hearne. Burial follows at Norwood Cemetery. McCulloch Gordon Co funeral directors sent the body from Bryan to Hearne Sunday night. Henry Hodges Dies at Home at College Station
Henry Hodges aged 77 11 5 died at College Station Sunday morning at 1 o clock. Born in Mississippi January 22 1847 he moved to Texas in 1870 and lived in Burleson county before settling in College Station. Funeral services were held in Caldwell Sunday at 3:30 pm with burial in Caldwell cemetery. He was a Confederate veteran. Survived by widow two daughters Mrs Sallie Mae Myers of College and Mrs Birdie Johnson of Houston and two sons H M Hodges of Taylor and Halsey Hodges of Houston.

Stolen Halsell Motor sedan linked to Sunday thefts
A 4 Dodge sedan type B with leather upholstery and dash clock was stolen from in front of George Hassell on College avenue between 1 and 7 am Sunday. A Ford coupe belonging to T. P. Boyett was also stolen but abandoned after fuel ran out. Police traced possible return toward Houston with no arrests by Monday morning.
