The Edge community held Texas’ largest victory celebration for the Blue Ribbon Forty Club, honoring 1924 state win. A 6:30 p.m. banquet preceded a program in Edge’s auditorium with D L Borden, Mrs. Lee J. Rountree, Frank A. Briggs, Col. Frank P. Holland emissary, and local leaders praising club members and 100 percent attendance. Mrs. Outlaw received $20 for a state winning secretary’s book.

Edith Tobias Weds Robert Milligan in Steep Hollow Ceremony

Edith Tobias of this city married Robert J. Milligan of McKinney on Thursday evening at 8 at the bride’s home. Rev. J. J. Tatum officiated. Milligan, a World War veteran, recently completed civil engineering studies at A and M College of Texas. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tobias, was a former Brazos County teacher and long employed as a stenographer at A and M. The Milligans plan to visit McKinney before deciding where he will locate and work.

Another Car Stolen in Bryan Last Night

Between 6 30 and 7 45 o clock a nearly new Ford coupe was stolen from in front of Will McCulloch s home. McCulloch saw the car at 6 30 in front of the house where Esther his daughter used it to commute to College. On returning at 7 45 he learned the car was missing and no trace has been found.

A Ford coupe owned by Will Taylor of College Station was stolen from his home between 7 and 7 30 PM. Taylor saw the thief drive away but could not pursue. A second vehicle, owned by Charles Crawford of Millican, was taken from in front of W E Saunders store on South Main Street later that evening.

Last-Minute Poll Taxes Paid Soar in Bryan Bryan Officials Say

Tax collectors report 3425 poll taxes paid with 15 exemptions and 2580 new car licenses issued. An estimated 500 to 600 remain unpaid with a 25 percent penalty now in effect. City records show 1078 poll taxes paid and about 95 percent of city taxes settled by early February, deemed a splendid record for Bryan.
