The Kurten boys and girls clubs held meetings on November 19 and December e. Funeral Held For Mrs Margaret Erwin Jones In Hearne

Mrs Margaret Erwin Jones aged 79 of Hearne was laid to rest at home before shipment to Nacogdoches for burial beside her husband who died about fifteen years ago. Mills P Walker and wife attended the service reflecting on Texas pioneer families fading from the scene.

Swan of Wellborn Hosts Big Sunday Dinner

Mr and Mrs A D McSwain entertained relatives and friends with a 1 o'clock dinner at their country home. A turkey and fine fare created a sumptuous feast. Guests included Mr and Mrs W E Graham, Mr and Mrs Jim Edge, Mr and Mrs N A Stewart and three sons, Dr and Mrs J N Goodwin, Mrs Mellie B Smith, Miss Eva Stewart, Calhoun Graham, and Mr and Mrs A D Graham. The afternoon featured music and conversation and all enjoyed a delightful time.

Eva Hebron, 91, Die in Bryan Home

Mrs Eva Hebron aged 91 died Saturday at 3 o clock at her north Bryan home. Funeral services were held from the residence at 3 45 and at St Josephs Church at 4 oclock conducted by Rev J B Geisner. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery with McCulloch Gordon Co in charge. She was born in the old country and had lived in Brazos county for years. Survived by two daughters and one son. Britten Ber Derison Arrives for Chicago Club Congress

Britten Hen deren of Kurten Texas arrived in Chicago to join 1,300 Boys and Girls Club members attending the Third Annual Club Congress during the International Live Stock Exposition. President Coolidge will address the group and the Moses Trophy will be awarded for leadership. The banquet at the Drake Hotel features a stage show and club songs. The event will be broadcast nationwide via the National Farm Radio Council.

Murder Suicide Shocks Utah Professor Family

The bodies of Rosemary Carnarvon Sparkman and her two children Wilford and Lorna Doone were found in a gas-filled room at the Sparkman home in Salt Lake City. Authorities say Mrs Sparkman chloroformed the children and turned on the gas, then died. Colley F Sparkman, associate professor of modern languages, taught at A and M College 1915 to 1918 before moving to South America.

County basketball games open state league race in Brazos

Friday, December 5, Brazos county held its first league games under the State Diversity Interscholastic League rules. Tabor defeated Kurten 15 7, Harvey 29 9, Smetana 9 for Consolidated 17 2, Millican. King's Highway beat Edge with the exact score not learned. Next Friday matchups include Tabor vs Edge at Edge and Kurten vs King’s Highway at Kurten, with further pairings to determine county champions for a chance to advance to Austin.

County Tax Collector Roy Hudspeth Greets Return Home

Jack T. Johnson visited San Antonio to bring Brazos County Tax Collector Roy Hudspeth back to Bryan after weeks in hospital following a hunting accident.
