Funeral of Mrs. F. Eugenia Beard Held in Bryan
Mrs Eugenia Beard aged 74 died Thursday at the city hospital after a long illness. She leaves husband John A Beard four daughters and five sons with several siblings. Funeral services were conducted at the home of her son Horace C Beard with Rev A F McCains officiating. Interment followed at Bryan City Cemetery with active and honorary pallbearers named.

Cadet Senior at A and M Falls to 130 Foot Water Tank
John F. Kubala a fifth year electrical engineering cadet at Texas A and M was found dead at dawn at the foot of the 130 foot water tower behind the main academic building. Investigators say he climbed the tower after 12 last night to adjust wireless radials. The college holds the body pending his parents' instructions as flags fly at half staff.

Fire department praised for saving Masonic Building in Bryan
A high north wind threatened Bryan's business area when a fire broke out in the Masonic building. Prompt action by the Bryan fire department and volunteers kept the blaze from destroying the three story brick structure next to City Hall and the Carnegie Library. Estimated loss runs around 15000 with water damage noted throughout the building. The Masonic block housed multiple lodges and shops, with insurance covering part of the value.

Fire Origin Suspected in Upper Story Blaze
J. D. Martin, a leading Mason, said no fire had occurred in the upper rooms for a week or more. The blaze appeared to start between the third story ceiling and the roof, likely from electric wiring, and was nearly ablaze when first observed. The alarm was turned in from the fire station just before 10 o clock.
