County Judge to Decide Beer Sales in Brazos County
County Judge A. S. McSwain will be the decisive figure for issuing beer licenses in Brazos County under the 43rd Legislature. Applications must be filed with him and he may approve or deny. Appeals go to the district court within 30 days. the court may overrule. Licenses to act as local distributors or to sell retail may be filed after September 1 and decided within ten days, but no permits become effective until September 15. Brother Killed By Brazos Negro Shot Accidental
Walter Drayton a ten year old negro boy was accidentally shot and killed Sunday at Steeles Store by his older brother who had been playing with a .38 revolver. The two boys lived on the Brazos Varisco plantation with other tenants and hands. Witnesses say the discharge was purely accidental and no charges were filed.
